While team Koiquestion reported live from the All European Koi Show in Rijswijk and welcomed many enthusiastic hobbyists to the stand, the 32nd All Japan Young Koi Show was organized at the same time in Japan, more than 9000 km away.
The crowning of Grand Champion was “fought”
The Kure Port Pia Park in Kure City in Hiroshima was the stage where the battle for the highest honor, the crowning of Grand Champion, was “fought” in a radiant sun.
The Jury, which according to the rules of this show consists of leading breeders and dealers, had a tough task this weekend due to the very high quality of the Koi used.

A duel that seemed to be between a Sanke from Sakai Hiroshima and a Showa from Sekiguchi Koifarm, was eventually won by the three-year-old Sekiguchi Showa of 63cm.

This magisterial tricolor, with a glorious career ahead of her given her young age, was purchased during the Ikeage in 2013 and then expertly prepared by Ryuki Narita (Narita Koifarm). The owner of the Koi is the English hobbyist Yeweng Ho.
Currently, a development and review blog is being written by Tiebo about this Grand Champion. This interesting story will appear on Koiquestion.com next week. So stay tuned!
Unfortunately we could not be present at this show ourselves, but we found Paul Ashton (KoiBito) and John de Leur (Chikarakoi) willing to capture an impression of the atmosphere and some terribly beautiful Koi on film. Of course we don’t want to withhold these photos from you!
