Special Koi, Special achievements, Special people
After the inspection day on Friday, where only the jury, organization and press were allowed to attend under strict embargo (unfortunately, as if it were the budget memorandum, not with all the press, so that the GC leaked out early on), the show was officially opened to the public today. Where yesterday the Koi could be viewed in serene peace and only occasionally a jury team or fellow photographer walked by, today it was very busy in the Ryutsu Center.

We have seen many nationalities; from Americans to Germans, from Scandinavians to South Africans. Nice to see that our hobby is known everywhere and the Koi is loved in all corners of the world! Something that is also very nice to experience is that Koiquestion is also becoming more and more famous in all these directions. We were approached a lot at the show today by breeders and hobbyists from countries where we thought “how can they know us?!”. Nice to hear that our work there does not go unnoticed either!

This morning our friends from the Nishikigoi Association Netherlands Ronald Stam and Mark Kleijkers were allowed to take the exam for their Assistant Certified Judge for the Shinkokai (the association of growers and dealers that organizes the show) during the All Japan. Immediately upon entering team Koiquestion we saw an extremely concentrated Ronald and Mark at the barrels in which the “exam fish” were located. It was nice to see how serious this was and with what kind of experience they accomplished this task! We sincerely hope that you have passed and can start working as an official Assistant Certified Judge! Gambatte!

Bernie Woollands and Rudy v/d Broeke also took their exams today, of course we also hope for you that the Shinkokai is convinced of your abilities and that you can add an extra degree in the Koi judging to your record.
The rest of our day consisted of talking to breeders, dealers and hobbyists, photographing Koi… even more Koi and even more Koi… For you! And because we have already seen all the prize winners, no major-award-winning-Koi for a while, you still love this one from us, but just some images of what the All Japan has to offer:
