Whereas the 2025 edition was cancelled, the tide has now turned completely: on Saturday, June 13, 2026, the show will once again take place in Bakkeveen, Friesland. Preparations have started and the first competition vessels for Koi Show Noorderlicht 2026 have already been committed.
With 34 reserved barrels by now – 33 of them already paid – the return is supported by koi hobbyists from all over the Netherlands. Many participants are newcomers, which perfectly suits the approachable nature of this one-day koi show.

Nationwide support for Koi Show Northern Lights 2026
The show’s resurrection is due to the koi community. Calls resounded in app groups from Brabant to Limburg, calling for action. Expressions of support came en masse and translated into concrete registrations. The result: Koi Show Noorderlicht 2026 goes on; stronger than ever.
The role of KoiQuestion and the Nagaoka interview
An important push came from an interview KoiQuestion founder Tiebo held with organizers Arjan Bremer(abkoimarum.nl) and Danny van der Veen (frieslandkoi.nl) during the Nagaoka Koi Show in Japan. That interview sparked discussion about the future of small-scale shows and the importance of bottom-up involvement. That video was a catalyst in the revival of this koi show in the north.
Successor to successful 2024 edition
Koi Show Noorderlicht 2026 is the direct successor to the first edition in 2024, which received high praise. The approachable atmosphere, friendly reception and room for new participants made it a unique experience for both visitor and exhibitor.
