In honor of the opening of show violence this season; we presented you with a contest in the form of a poll. The question on the board read as follows: What variety would you like to see at the KoiShow outside of the gosanke<\/abbr> group? 540 people visited the poll and almost 200 people actually participated. On average it took you one minute to come up with an answer. We have scraped together the participations and you will find the findings in this article, as well as the ten winners of 2 free tickets to the Koi Show in Rijswijk. <\/p>\n

18% choose Shiro<\/abbr> Utsuri and Hi<\/abbr> Usturi<\/span><\/h4>\n

The big winner is the Shiro<\/abbr> Utsuri; perhaps that is not surprising. The playful contrast between black and white or black and red is highly appreciated by many and you can spend hours marveling at a good Shiro<\/abbr> or Hi<\/abbr> Utsuri. With a whopping 18% of the votes, it managed to capture first place in our poll. <\/p>\n

14% choose Goshiki<\/abbr><\/span><\/h4>\n

After the Shiro<\/abbr>\/ Hi<\/abbr> utsuri, the Goshiki<\/abbr> can look forward to the most praise, which is secretly a remarkable result. Although among enthusiasts the popularity of Goshiki<\/abbr> has increased, I would have guessed in advance that it would be the Tancho<\/abbr> that would receive the most praise after the Gosanke<\/abbr>. Nothing could be further from the truth, because where the Tancho<\/abbr> did not get beyond 8% of the votes, the Goshiki<\/abbr> managed to come out on top with 14%. The strong development of the Goshiki<\/abbr> and the wide supply at various breeders will have contributed to this rising popularity. <\/p>\n

11% choose Kujaku<\/abbr><\/span><\/h3>\n

The Kujaku<\/abbr> is a beautiful variety and means Peacock. This is because the so-called pine cone pattern, also called Matsuba<\/abbr> lies like an eye in each scale. The Kujaku<\/abbr> is metallic and ideally has a good Kohaku<\/abbr> pattern. The better the white skin and sheen on the Koi, the more a Kujaku<\/abbr> pops out of the pond. This makes the Kujaku<\/abbr> not only third in this poll but also the most popular metallic Koi. <\/p>\n

10% choose Asagi<\/abbr><\/span><\/h3>\n

Perhaps somewhat unexpectedly, but certainly not unfairly, the Asagi<\/abbr> scored high with 10% of the votes. The Asagi<\/abbr> is the only Koi showing a blue pattern and a more traditional variety in the history of the Nishikigoi<\/abbr> family tree. Not only the blue, in many cases interspersed with red side markings, but also the net pattern really captures the imagination. <\/p>\n

8% choose Chagoi<\/abbr>, Koromo or Tancho<\/abbr><\/span><\/h3>\n

A new trio comes across in a shared fifth place where both the tame Chagoi<\/abbr>, the mysterious Koromo and the pure Tancho<\/abbr> all manage to garner 8% of the vote. Many might have rated the Tancho<\/abbr> much higher, at least I did and the Koromo and Chagoi<\/abbr> do perform as expected. they are highly prized varieties that usually don’t top the list, but are on everyone’s list. <\/p>\n

Would you bundle these single-color non-metallic varieties together they would end up just after the Asagi<\/abbr><\/span><\/h3>\n

6% choose Kumonryu<\/abbr> or Yamabuki Ogon<\/abbr><\/span><\/h3>\n

The list closes with the Kumonryu<\/abbr> and Yamabuki Ogon<\/abbr>. Again, these are koi that are often not at the top of the list, but do not go unmentioned on many wish lists. On mine they certainly are. I really think a Kumonryu<\/abbr> is one of the most imaginative Koi, but they are so difficult to keep stable in Dutch waters and good specimens are rare. The Yamabuki Ogon<\/abbr> has been, to my understanding, the most popular metallic Koi varite for years, but the development of the Kujaku<\/abbr> has now taken it past the Yamabuki. <\/p>\n

3% choose Kigoi or Bekko<\/abbr><\/span><\/h3>\n

At the bottom, the list is led by the Kigoi and Bekko<\/abbr>. They are less popular than all of the above. Of course, it is difficult for the Kigoi which has to divide its attention largely with its little brother Chagoi<\/abbr>. Among the 6% who had voted slightly differently were also several Karashigoi<\/abbr>. Were you to bundle these single-colored non-metallic variants together they would finish just after the Asagi<\/abbr>. The bekko<\/abbr>, as a pure branch breed of the Sanke<\/abbr>, has been a less popular variety for years, but tradition maintains this variety as a separate class so it is still often seen back at the Koi Show. <\/p>\nWill you stop by KoiQuestion<\/abbr>‘s booth? The Winners<\/span><\/h3>\n

10×2 free tickets were raffled off among poll participants on a draw basis, with people who invited others to participate having an extra draw in the virtual draw. And here they are.
