Experience the European Koi Show 2024!
Lovers of Koi, beware! This weekend is finally here: the European Koi Show in Oldenzaal. This annual event, organized by Koiclub Nederland, promises to be another spectacle. Big news this year is the name change: from now on, the event will continue under the name European Koi Show. The reason is simple: there are participants from all over Europe, which takes the show to an even higher level. With the final elimination of the Interkoi Koi Show in Germany, the club has taken over all of its competition vessels, so this name better reflects the club’s ambitions.
The Most Beautiful Koi in Europe
During the show, the finest Koi are displayed, ranging from 20 cm to over 1 meter in size. These Koi are among the best in Europe and are presented by both hobbyists and professional dealers from different countries. It is a unique opportunity to admire these majestic fish up close and perhaps even pick your personal favorite….
European Championship
This year is extra special because it will be competing for the European Championship. The competition is fierce and the contestants are determined to take home the coveted title. 80 barrels full, participants include Rob van hulst and Floor’s Koi Shop is back on the scene. Used to win many a Koi Show with foremost a Miyatora Sanke, disappeared from the scene and is now back. Andre de Groot will be there with Interkoi Almeide, Koi Freak will undoubtedly bring some impressive Koi again. Ramon and Jolien, two well-known hobbyists with a formidable koi stock and of course many more will compete for that European title. Come watch and see the finest Koi being judged against each other in Europe’s first outdoor show. Personally, I really enjoy that; a real outdoor show even though it doesn’t always make photographing the fish easier because of the sun and or drops of rain.

Workshops en Seminars
“In addition to admiring the beautiful Koi, visitors can participate in interesting workshops and seminars. Steve Gibbons will give a photography workshop, where you will learn how to best capture these colorful fish on film. There is also a judging seminar where you can judge Koi yourself. Visitors will have the chance to judge five Showa in a showvat and give up to 100 points. A unique opportunity to test your judging skills,” said Patrick Beld, KCN president!
Audience Award 2024
New this year is the Audience Award. During the show, there are QR codes hanging everywhere that visitors can scan to vote for their favorite Koi. Voting is open until 2 p.m. Sunday, after which the winner will be announced at the awards ceremony. With each vote, you have a chance to win great prizes, such as vouchers and food for your own Koi. So don’t forget to get involved and make your voice heard!
Exhibitors and Products
In addition to the Koi, numerous exhibitors are also present with products related to the Koi hobby. Whether you are looking for new accessories for your pond, want information on the best care for your Koi, or just want to look around, there is something for everyone. Lovers of bonsai and model gardens are also catered for. Exhibitors will be on hand to inform and inspire.

Come to Oldenzaal this weekend and experience the magic of Koi. It promises to be an unforgettable experience you don’t want to miss! The volunteers already have sore muscles so Gerk van der Veen told me, but they persevere steadily with pride and for a result with satisfaction that makes it more than worthwhile.
