Grand Champion, Supreme Champion and Grand Champion B at the 2022 France Koi Show
Filip Poppe once again knows how to surprise with a new eye-catching Kohaku from his pond of champions and takes the main stage in France again! Not his well known Miss Magnum with whom he already put 8 Grand Champion titles to his name or the Sanke with which he won the first prize in Belgium earlier this year. It is a red and white beauty from the Sakura Queen bloodline of Sakai Fish Farm (SFF) that has him adding the French title to the mantelpiece. The fish is now 5 years and four months old.

Filip selected the Koi as early as the age of two. Just from a public tank where anyone could buy. Actually, he was initially offered another Koi to buy from the SFF breeder Kentaro. Two of them that is. However, one fish did not appeal to him. Filip knows what he wants and so he selected this one himself. A Maruten Sandan Kohaku who then stayed in Japan for another year.
She grew into today's champion
The past two years the Koi stayed in the Belgian hobbyist's own pond. There she grew into today's champion. An admirable achievement. And that other Koi that Kentaro presented to Filip? She became Supreme Champion here in France with 6 years and 78cm. Bloodline: La vie on Rose. It is the same Koi that won the gold medal in Belgium. So both the Grand and the Supreme were actually bought on the same day.

French Hattrick
Also, the Grand Champion B, an excellent ginrin Chagoi which was purchased through Kim's Koi measures a whopping 98cm and was bred at the Isawa Nishikigoi Centre. These and on top of that two best in variaty awards, make Filip leave the rest of the playing field far behind him in France. To conclude, we are talking about a hobbyist, not a dealer. Filip and his wife Els also won the show in 2018 and 2019. The past two years there was no Koi Show and that actually makes this victory a pure hat-trick for the Belgian.
it might get boring to mention all the time
Real competition was lacking at the French show this year, but the hobbyist also reveals that the same fish won before where there was solid competition. And it may get boring to keep mentioning, but it remains the truth; Filip and Els know how to bring their fish to the show in the most glowing condition. A delight for every visitor to see.
